Job Description

To perform Inspection activities and its reporting as per given scope of work. Perform quality activities on capital projects covering mechanical Installations and/or welding / Piping. The surveyor (inspector) performs quality inspection (surveillance and / or examination) of equipment, product, installation, etc. to determine their conformity with specified reference requirements (standards, specifications, regulation, etc).

SCOPE:

The incumbent will:

  • monitor and/or perform inspection activities at all stages of projects.
  • ensure contractor’s work is in compliance using good knowledge of Clients engineering requirements, standards, procedures and specifications of the project contract.
  • provide training to others as and when required.
  • Duties may require physical exertion working outdoors confined high elevations, and remote work location.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

  • Review of inspection assignment documentation (technical aspects, reference documentation, schedule, milestones, reporting, logistics, co-ordination procedure, etc.)
  • Review of Quality Plan and relevant procedures.
  • Scheduling of inspection / surveillance.
  • To carry out inspection according to pre-defined Quality Plan using established inspection procedures.
  • Assuring application of codes and standards, project specifications and procedures.
  • Execution of inspection according to Quality Plan applying appropriate inspection procedures / techniques.
  • Record legibly and accurately all controversial and non-complying construction practices, materials and equipment and report to supervisor detailed potential problems for early resolution.
  • Execution of inspection reporting including treatment of Non-conformities (NCR’s) and other applicable deliverables.
  • Maintaining internal and external communication according to defined system.
  • Documentation control.
  • Ensure that fabrication is carried out as per approved drawings / Inspection test plans.
  • Review & respond to site queries, concession requests related to technical matters.
  • Review final documentation, inspection data book submitted by construction contractor.

Job Requirements

  • Hold a Technical Diploma / Higher Technical diploma / Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Certified Welding Inspector AWS-CWI/CSWIP, Certified Painting Inspector BGAS Gr 3/2 / NACE, ASNT NDT Level II in RT, UT, MT, PT, RTFI etc (Any other industrial qualification will be an added advantage).
  • Have minimum ten (10) to fifteen (15) years experience in the inspection / quality management in welding & mechanical construction for petrochemical or hydrocarbon facilities.
  • Have experience with inspection services of International Oil/Gas Projects.  
  • Be fluent in both spoken and written English, while being experienced in using PC and MS-Word/Excel software, AutoCAD etc.
  • Be extensively familiar with all International Design/Testing Codes and Standards, relevant to the discipline. Confirmed working knowledge of applicable industry standards in welding, piping, and equipment installation such as ASME IX, ASME VIII, ASME/ANSI B31, 3.31.4/31.8, API-686, API RP2A.API-1104 AWS D1.1.
  • Conversant with relevant inspection techniques and able to select the most appropriate inspection technique.
  • Able to identify interventions on pre-defined Quality Plan according to specified standards.
  • Able to review / appraise inspection procedures.
  • Able to interpret inspection results.
  • Able to verify and approve Non-conformities / corrective actions.
  • Hands on in preparation and qualification of WPS/PQR/WPQT, Inspection test plans, method statements and procedures.
  • Sound knowledge in welding inspection, materials standards, proficient in conduct and review of NDT.
  • Good health and in excellent physical condition.
  • Gulf experience and a valid UAE driving license / equipped to obtain the same.
